ABOUT CHRISTOPHER STEAR
Christopher operates at the highest levels of strategic communications — advising leaders and organisations where reputation, influence and outcomes are on the line.
He is engaged where complexity is high, scrutiny is intense, and the margin for error is low.
What He Does
Christopher is brought in when the environment is difficult, the stakes are real and clear communication is not optional.
His work is grounded in five decades of first-hand experience across national media, federal and state politics, and defence — not theory, not frameworks borrowed from textbooks.
He works alongside decision-makers at the point where strategy meets reality — in the room, in real time, when it matters most.
Experience
Christopher's background spans the full breadth of Australian public life at its most demanding:
Served with the United States Marine Corps — 1st Reconnaissance Battalion
Advisory Head of Strategic Communications, Greater Ipswich Defence Precinct (current) — a major sovereign defence initiative bringing together government, industry and education
Senior Media Adviser to Federal Ministers, Senators and political leaders across multiple high-profile parliamentary roles
Producer and On-Air Commentator, Sky News Australia
Public Affairs Officer, Royal Australian Air Force — including PAO at RAAF Base Amberley
National Public Affairs Manager — Federal Government's Advance Australia Campaign, including the 1983 America's Cup Challenge — the first defeat of America in the Cup's 132-year history
Strategic advisory roles across government, defence and corporate sectors at the national level
He has also:
Advised one of Australia's most publicly attacked CEOs prior to and during a Senate inquiry that completely exonerated her — contributing directly to 25 recommendations including that the Prime Minister and two senior Ministers apologise
Led communications during a major environmental contamination crisis at one of Australia's most significant defence installations — containing the media narrative, preventing public hysteria and maintaining community trust throughout
He has worked at close quarters with Prime Ministers, Federal Ministers, military commanders, Senate committees and national media organisations — in environments where communication shaped outcomes.
Credentials
Christopher holds a Master of Communication and completed the Owner/President Management Program at Harvard Business School — where his fellow students, founders, CEOs and leaders from around the world, elected him Graduation Speaker.
He has led major commercial initiatives including a highly successful ASX listing as Founder, Director and CEO.
He has accepted a personal invitation to the West Wing of the White House — as guest of the President's Chief of Staff and Harvard Business School classmate, Mick Mulvaney.
He is the author of It Happens For You — described by Air Commodore Martin (Marty) Smith (Ret'd), former Commander of RAAF Base Amberley, as the work of "a master communicator whose storytelling will captivate and educate in equal proportions."
Approach
Christopher does not operate at a distance.
He works alongside clients during the moments that matter — when decisions are being made, pressure is high, reputations are at stake and outcomes are still in play.
Strategy without execution is just conversation. Christopher stays in the room until the job is done.
Current Role
Christopher Stear is Principal, StratComm Advisors — providing strategic communications advisory services across government, defence and industry.
He currently serves as Advisory Head of Strategic Communications for the Greater Ipswich Defence Precinct, a nationally significant sovereign defence initiative.
When communication matters most, it must be clear, aligned and delivered with intent.
That's where Christopher Stear operates.
